A Wife of Noble Character

Last week, I overreacted about something my husband did and a seed of resentment was planted without me even realizing it. My resentment caused lack of motivation/laziness (the house was a mess) and the inclination to talk out about what bothered me to my friend. As soon as God brought it to my mind, I forgave Jarrod in my heart and was excited about going home to clean up the mess that had been sitting there for *days* (embarrassing).   The forgiveness was an issue in my own heart that I dealt with through God's guidance and I was encouraged to go home and deal with the mess I had made.  We talked about how everything unfolded, and Jarrod was reminded of the Proverbs 31 wife. She is of noble character that loves God, brings joy to her husband, works hard and speaks kind words. A noble wife was made to be a blessing in the home and a light source in the world. She is made to be loving, caring, giving and nurturing to those around her. Her children rise up and call her ble...

Walking Into What God Wants

PROVERBS 138:8 - "The Lord will work out his plans for my life - for your faithful love, O Lord, endures forever. Don't abandon me, for you made me." (NLT) I wanted to share this story with you because sometimes we pray and listen and ask and wait upon the Lord and we do exactly what He wants us to do. And sometimes we walk into what He wants without even knowing it. We have no idea how anything will turn out but we know we are fulfilling His purpose. Every step we take leads us to where He wants us. Every once in a while, we take a detour but we essentially end where we are destined. A month or two ago, I stumbled upon a job opportunity while I wasn't even looking. It was the type of job that checked all the boxes for what I would be looking for if God needed me to take that step. I feel comfortable in the life He has given me but was (and still am) open to a change. This change came in the form of an opportunity at a local junior college to work in the Math Tuto...

Treasures

One night when I was waiting for Jarrod to get home, I was searching on Amazon for a free book to download and couldn't find anything that suited my fancy. I realized that instead of wasting my time on yet another fictional novel that I should spend more of my free time with my Father. I went to our room and dusted off my "real" Bible (there's just something more reverent about turning the pages of a Bible than looking at an electronic screen for me) and turned straight to Proverbs - my favorite book. Every time I read a couple chapters of Proverbs, I feel a lot more connected to Him. Even though I've read Proverbs probably a hundred times, it feels brand new and genius every time. I ran across Proverbs 11:4 and it dawned on me the true meaning of it. (When Jarrod came home and I was discussing this with him, he lovingly laughed at me saying, "you realize it didn't "dawn" on you, right? God has revealed new wisdom to you." ....So tru...
