Promise Land

My mom, Kathie wrote this and I wanted to share it with you:

When a man steps forward with a word from The Lord, we better pay attention.  That happened to me yesterday.

Have you ever had a vision or dream of something that you would like to see happen?  I did, when I married David.  I really felt that God would take us to a place where there were beaches to pastor a church.  I learned early on that my vision was not the one that God had for us.

We came to Dallas, Texas for seminary training, we thought we were going back to Pennsylvania in four years. That didn't happen. A little church in Stephenville, Texas needed a pastor.  There went the beach ministry, BUT God's vision for us was greater than ours.

Looking back over the last 25 years, we can see His hand in the whole roller coaster ride.  That ride was both scary and exciting.

The way we used to define our ministry was something like, who will come along side of us, believe in us, and support us financially.  In other words me, me, me!  God is redefining us into who can we come along side and validate God's vision for them, and to give generously in a way that the their thanksgiving would go to God.

It's the same vision but with a twist - for example, it was like we used be on the east banks of the Jordan River and saying that will be ours someday, Now to have God change our vision and go in to the west banks of the Jordan and conquer the land.

Moses never got to set foot onto that land, because of his disobedience.  He saw it, but died before the Israelites took possession of it.

I don't want that to happen to me. I want to see the land and possess the land.  I want to see the vision and be a part of the vision. I want to be generous in my love for others, my giving to this body of Christ. Not for myself, but that those who receive can turn and give thanks to God, who gave us everything to begin with.

Read and meditate on this scripture below.  These verses were given to us by our much loved and respected Apostle, Doug White.

In 2 Corinthians 9:10-13, it says:

For God is the one who provides seeds for the farmer and then the bread to eat.  In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you.

Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous.  And when we take your gifts to those that need them, they will thank God.

So two good things will result from this ministry of giving---the needs of the believers in Jerusalem will be met, and they will joyfully express their thanks to God.

As a result of your ministry, they will give glory to God. For your generosity to them and to all believers will prove that you are obedient to the Good News of Christ.

And they will pray for you with deep affection because of the overflowing grace God has given to you.

Thank God for this gift too wonderful for words!

Reforming Undesirable Behavior

You know that thing you do that you don't wanna do but you keep doing it because you can't stop doing it? These behaviors might include: lying, cheating, raging, gossiping, pornography, drinking, drugs, eating, throwing up, etc. Reforming these behaviors on your own can prove to be a little tricky. I'd say reforming undesirable behavior might even be impossible on your own. But there is still hope for us. With the love of God, the power of the Holy Spirit and a renewed mind, you can reform your behavior. Youth conference with lots of God encounters! An encounter with God is the easiest way to reform undesirable behavior because the encounter will fill you with the fear of the Lord. The fear of the Lord renews our minds in a way that informs our bodies of what's beneficial to our spiritual health in the eyes of God. So, your mouth doesn't want to lie anymore; your tongue won't allow you to eat certain things; your eyes will be opened to the evil of pornogra...

Don't Pick Up Hitch Hikers...

My husband's passion for hearing God and sharing his words is inspiring. The knowledge God gives him to articulate to his people is astounding. It amazes me that my husband holds these spiritual words within him and nearly bursts with excitement on Sunday trying to get it all out to a physical world. Which brings up Joshua 23. This chapter is Joshua's final charge to the leaders and future generations. What is a charge? It's kind of like issuing a challenge and a warning all at the same time. At weddings, the minister charges the couple with the responsibility associated with marriage...in Joshua, he is charging the leaders to beware of the physical world around them. They've driven out the big tribes from the Promised Land but a few stragglers still remain and Joshua warns the leaders to avoid any entanglements with them. Temptation is sure to be present among these stragglers and they would be wise to remember all God has done for them. He said: 6 “Be very strong;...
