Election Day!

We voted!
I love the anticipation of finding out who will preside over our country! I would imagine being president is one of the hardest jobs on the planet, yet we manage to find one every 4-8 years that is willing to take on the sacrifices of a country leader. I may not always agree with our president, but no matter who it is, I hold a great deal of respect for someone willing to step into that position of authority. It is, after all, essentially the greatest authority we have on Earth as Americans.

I can find rest in who America chooses because while he/she is the greatest authority in our country, God still remains the greatest authority over the entire universe. Worrying about things that are out of our control would be like preparing for a test we are never going to have...it's pointless. Faithfully praying, without worry, on the other hand, is certainly recommended in times when big decision are being made that affect many people for years.

God has been teaching me that whatever I do, to do it without worry and fear. It's a strange thing for me to not be wrapped up in worry as I feel other emotions. For example, a mother might send her child off to school for the first time and is sad because she will miss him, but she is not worried because she knows the plans God has for him. She isn't worried about how his day will go because she's gone faithfully before God and asked him to guide her son. She doesn't worry if people will like him because she knows the love of the Father is bigger than the approval of man. She might miss him and think of him during the day, but the nostalgia she feels for the baby he used to be is not laced with the worry or fear that accompanies the unknown.

I love exercising my right to vote!
It was a hard fought for opportunity
that I am more than happy to take.
God wants us to remember this example as we await the announcement of our future president. He wants us to feel elated or disappointed without the pride or worry that accompany each respective feeling. He wants us to know that no matter the outcome, whether it is in our favor or not, that we proceed with the faith that God is the ultimate authority, he is guiding us and our president, he is bigger than any issues we feel strongly about, and he accompanies us into the unknown every single day.

I'm praying for God to make himself known to you every day and may the odds be ever in your favor ;)

Reforming Undesirable Behavior

You know that thing you do that you don't wanna do but you keep doing it because you can't stop doing it? These behaviors might include: lying, cheating, raging, gossiping, pornography, drinking, drugs, eating, throwing up, etc. Reforming these behaviors on your own can prove to be a little tricky. I'd say reforming undesirable behavior might even be impossible on your own. But there is still hope for us. With the love of God, the power of the Holy Spirit and a renewed mind, you can reform your behavior. Youth conference with lots of God encounters! An encounter with God is the easiest way to reform undesirable behavior because the encounter will fill you with the fear of the Lord. The fear of the Lord renews our minds in a way that informs our bodies of what's beneficial to our spiritual health in the eyes of God. So, your mouth doesn't want to lie anymore; your tongue won't allow you to eat certain things; your eyes will be opened to the evil of pornogra...

Don't Pick Up Hitch Hikers...

My husband's passion for hearing God and sharing his words is inspiring. The knowledge God gives him to articulate to his people is astounding. It amazes me that my husband holds these spiritual words within him and nearly bursts with excitement on Sunday trying to get it all out to a physical world. Which brings up Joshua 23. This chapter is Joshua's final charge to the leaders and future generations. What is a charge? It's kind of like issuing a challenge and a warning all at the same time. At weddings, the minister charges the couple with the responsibility associated with marriage...in Joshua, he is charging the leaders to beware of the physical world around them. They've driven out the big tribes from the Promised Land but a few stragglers still remain and Joshua warns the leaders to avoid any entanglements with them. Temptation is sure to be present among these stragglers and they would be wise to remember all God has done for them. He said: 6 “Be very strong;...
