How to be deLIGHTful | 7 Way to Bring LIGHT Everywhere

God has been so patient to teach me new lessons every day on how to bring light into every situation. Sure, sometimes someone else is bringing light to me, but even that is teaching me a lesson. I want to share what I've learned so far on this topic.
Despite your age, education, job title, hair color or personality type, YOU can bring light to anyone God sets in front of you. As a matter of fact, God wants you to! In Matthew 5:16 it says:

In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
Here are some practical ways to be deLIGHTful no matter where you are or who you are with:

1) SMILE! Every time you see someone, smile! There's nothing like seeing a bright, happy face when you approach someone. A smile has the ability to break down barriers, change the atmosphere and start a friendship. Something so simple can truly change someone 's day or become the highlight of his/her day.
(Proverbs 15:13) "A glad heart makes a cheerful face, but by sorrow of heart the spirit is crushed."

2) BE UPLIFTING! Bring positive words, say nice things and ENCOURAGE! So maybe you have to give someone a review and it isn't glowing...still try to find a way to be encouraging and uplifting. Inspiring words will change the way a person feels about an encounter.
(1 Thessalonians 5:11) "Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing."

3) OFFER HELP! Be helpful in small things, big things or offering prayer. If you know the person is Christian, come alongside him as a brother or sister in Christ and see what is needed. If you're not sure the person is Christian, see if he/she needs help carrying something, making copies, getting coffee, etc. There really is something special about someone saying, "what can I help you with?"
(Acts 20:35) "In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

4) GET THEIR MIND OFF OF THE PROBLEM! When I go talk to coworkers, I try to talk about non work related topics. Okay, so a lot of times we HAVE to talk about work because it's our job, but I also like to make time (it doesn't have to be long) to check in on their lives, families, interests or hobbies. Talking about non work related items gets our minds off of stressful things and makes the environment more enjoyable.
(1 John 1:7) "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin."

5) CELEBRATE! Celebrate the good things! Congratulate them on completing a task, give a high five for a job well done or simply show appreciation for the small things. I like to clap while I chant Jarrod's name when he completes a particularly difficult task. It ALWAYS brings a smile to his face and joy to his eyes. I also like to send short text messages of gratitude to my coworkers when they've done something that was really nice.
(Psalm 118:24) "This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it."

6) BE HAPPY! Be the joyful person in the room. Be the person that everyone looks forward to seeing. Be the person that changes the atmosphere for good every single time. True happiness comes from God's love and a deep knowing that He is good. Let His love radiate from you in the form of joy and light.
(Romans 15:13) "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope."

7) PRAY! Pray! Pray! Pray! Pray at home before, pray during the day and pray at home after. Pray for yourself to get filled up, pray for those around you, pray for those you haven't seen in a while. Pray for the people, the organization, your family, your friends and most importantly, pray for your spouse (if you have one). Maybe you can't spend all that time praying because you're otherwise engaged. If that's the case, shoot up short prayers or write down the prayer items and pray for them later.
(Romans 12:12) "Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer."

Hopefully these tips help you to be a more delightful person! If you're having trouble bringing light into a dark place, ask God to fill your heart with His joy and love. When He fills you up, light naturally spills out.

Reforming Undesirable Behavior

You know that thing you do that you don't wanna do but you keep doing it because you can't stop doing it? These behaviors might include: lying, cheating, raging, gossiping, pornography, drinking, drugs, eating, throwing up, etc. Reforming these behaviors on your own can prove to be a little tricky. I'd say reforming undesirable behavior might even be impossible on your own. But there is still hope for us. With the love of God, the power of the Holy Spirit and a renewed mind, you can reform your behavior. Youth conference with lots of God encounters! An encounter with God is the easiest way to reform undesirable behavior because the encounter will fill you with the fear of the Lord. The fear of the Lord renews our minds in a way that informs our bodies of what's beneficial to our spiritual health in the eyes of God. So, your mouth doesn't want to lie anymore; your tongue won't allow you to eat certain things; your eyes will be opened to the evil of pornogra

Patient for the Promise

Going off the πŸ• grid is really in right now, right? A lot of people are buying 🌳 land, getting a tiny home and moving towards the simple, slow life. It’s exciting and exhilarating and dreams are coming true everyday for people who hope to be self sustained.  Going in faith on a πŸ—£πŸ™πŸΌ word of God is kind of the same feeling. He gives us a vision, a word or a dream that is irresistible. It’s exciting and exhilarating as we think about what He has for us and what it will look like. Our dreams come true as we see His word unfold right in front of us. What we don’t realize when we get started is the 😳 opposition that inevitably pops up along the way. For example, when people dream about living the simple life in the country they see 🌀 sunrises and sunsets with ☕️ coffee on the front porch in a white rocking chair. They see quiet, peaceful evenings spent with the family in the yard. They see baby 🐐 goats and 🐱 kittens frolicking in the barn. That IS a reality of a dream co

The Meaning

My name is Jessica and my husband's name is Jarrod. We believe in God. We also believe in the spiritual gifts. Jarrod is an associate pastor at a small church in our hometown. It is a non-denominational church; by this we mean we are Bible based, spirit filled people who just LOVE enjoying God. We each have very good and close knit families but we also view the church members as our family. We love them like sisters and brothers and really enjoy spending time with them. Everyone has their own passions; some of us share passions. My passions include my husband and dog, teaching math (even though I "retired" last year from the teaching field, I tutor students and use every chance I get to explain math to people), and a good, strong cup of coffee. :) My favorite spiritual gift to learn and practice and be practiced on is prophecy. Prophecies are when God's children ask their Father for a word and hear it through feelings, verses, maybe an audible voice, a thought appe
