Preacher’s Wife Teaching Life

We know from reading the Bible about the concept of the fear of the Lord, and as Christians, we’ve mostly developed a healthy amount of fear for his greatness and holiness. Fear of the Lord in the simplest terms is a respect for God and what he is capable of in the areas of his greatness but also in the areas of his discipline. We hold a high reverence for him and know not to curse his name, stomp on a Bible or disrespect him or those who serve him in any way. Jarrod and I are learning about the fear of the Lord in a whole new way: a way that sparks change in our mindset and heart. When we were on a local-ish mission trip, God allowed us to usher in miracles, signs and wonders. One girl in particular stands out in my mind because of her reaction to God. She was dealing with an injured foot and a recent concussion from getting knocked over in the bounce house. This week we covered Joshua 24 . Basically, Joshua reflects on all that's happened and tells the people to remember God. ( Joshua:14, 15 ) This post is a quick and dry summary of allllll my previous posts (which are linked into the points listed below): 1) God established a leader in Joshua; Moses was a powerful leader and his he passed his mantle to Joshua, like a spiritual inheritance. ---> His first responsibility was to come under authority. ------> Each leader has a leader to come under. Even the highest power on Earth has to submit to someone, namely God. Coming under authority by submitting to their guidance is of utmost importance to your well being. 2) A partnership with the Lord is established. ---> God does his part first and then humans need to do their part. I died when I was 13. I was in an ATV accident that landed me with a fractured skull and bleeding brain that resulted in the miracle of a lifetime. When I woke up, I knew I had been given the gift of a second chance at life. It was the summer of 2000 that we celebrated our freedom from the school year by riding four-wheelers on my friend's dairy. We were excited about being freshman and feeling pretty mature by practicing our driving skills on the ATV in the field. I was slightly less mature in my driving than my friend and lost control of the machine. Before we knew it, I slammed my unprotected head into a pole and my friend broke her femur from the impact of sitting behind me. She waited on the ground and prayed for help (no cell phones) while I rocked back and forth, unconscious on the ground.
