Patient for the Promise

Going off the 🏕 grid is really in right now, right? A lot of people are buying 🌳 land, getting a tiny home and moving towards the simple, slow life. It’s exciting and exhilarating and dreams are coming true everyday for people who hope to be self sustained.  Going in faith on a 🗣🙏🏼 word of God is kind of the same feeling. He gives us a vision, a word or a dream that is irresistible. It’s exciting and exhilarating as we think about what He has for us and what it will look like. Our dreams come true as we see His word unfold right in front of us. What we don’t realize when we get started is the 😳 opposition that inevitably pops up along the way. For example, when people dream about living the simple life in the country they see 🌤 sunrises and sunsets with ☕️ coffee on the front porch in a white rocking chair. They see quiet, peaceful evenings spent with the family in the yard. They see baby 🐐 goats and 🐱 kittens frolicking in the barn. That IS a reality of a drea...

Install a New Security System

A couple months ago, our agriculture exemption was in jeopardy because we didn’t have cows in the time frame that the state regulations require. At the time, cows were at an all time high buying cost so it was impossible for us to scrounge up money and get the 4 required cows for our acreage. We went nuts searching for some way to keep our exemption other than cows. We looked into planting stuff, a wildlife reserve and even a butterfly exhibit (no kidding…LOL). We exhausted every solution trying to find a way around not having cows. During this problem, my husband’s dad called and expressed he had too many cows for his land and needed a place to put them. He wondered if he could let us “borrow” them for an indefinite time. God has such an amazing way of working things out at the perfect time. We have cows, our land is ag exempt and we love the partnership that has developed with my father-in-law. Part of human nature is to get into messy situations, whether it be on purpose or by ...

Leap of Faith

This year we were awarded a whole extra day of the year to work/play/pray/sleep/whatever! It just so happened that this leap day was  a BEAUTIFUL day in Texas (see picture --->), so our extra day was quite a blessing. We wanted to use this extra day as an opportunity to take a LEAP of faith. We felt like a leap of faith entailed praying and asking God what he wanted us to do - a challenge of sorts - and then doing it! We wanted to get out of our boxes and allow God to ask anything of us. While praying all month about our leap of faith, we've been simultaneously praying about a vision for our church and in our personal lives. It's not surprising that these things we've been praying about coincide. You might know a little of our history but I'll give you a refresher if you don't. My dad was the pastor of our small church for about 20 years when my husband felt the call through countless prophetic words that he was to be a preacher and that his ministry was in p...
