Patient for the Promise

Going off the 🏕grid is really in right now, right? A lot of people are buying🌳 land, getting a tiny home and moving towards the simple, slow life. It’s exciting and exhilarating and dreams are coming true everyday for people who hope to be self sustained.

Going in faith on a 🗣🙏🏼word of God is kind of the same feeling. He gives us a vision, a word or a dream that is irresistible. It’s exciting and exhilarating as we think about what He has for us and what it will look like. Our dreams come true as we see His word unfold right in front of us.

What we don’t realize when we get started is the 😳opposition that inevitably pops up along the way. For example, when people dream about living the simple life in the country they see 🌤sunrises and sunsets with ☕️coffee on the front porch in a white rocking chair. They see quiet, peaceful evenings spent with the family in the yard. They see baby 🐐goats and 🐱kittens frolicking in the barn. That IS a reality of a dream come true, but what they don’t foresee is the opposition. They don’t see the flies, mosquitos, 🕷spiders, crickets, 🦂scorpions, raccoons, skunks, snakes and possums. They don’t see the Saturdays spent fixing fences and Sunday mornings before church wrangling a goat back into his cage. They don’t yet realize what a revolving 🚪door of cats means or how it feels to find your 🐄cow on someone else’s land. That IS opposition.

BUT to get to the dream, or the vision from God, you have to 👊🏼fight opposition! If you’re doing what God asked you to do, then you have the 🔨tools and faith the get past what tries to stop you. Just like using insect repellent and having extra fence on hand to fix holes and keep goats in, we have faith, hope, joy, peace and light to get us through hard times.

If you 🤷🏻‍♂️give up along the way, you’ll never see your dream come true. If you use your tools against opposition, then everything you hoped for will happen. Those 🕷insects, 🐀rodents and mornings spent wrangling goats will be well worth the mornings on the front porch with your coffee and loved ones. The things that were so painful along the way will take a back seat to the fruition of a 🌈dream come true.

If you’re facing opposition right now, I’m asking God to show you what tools you need to get through it. If God is redirecting you and it feels uncomfortable, I’m asking that He show you the new path and to give you excitement about what’s coming. Don’t give up and don’t doubt the promises God has for you. Please pray for me, too, as I deal with the same thing. I’m asking for hope, patience and light to fill our hearts as we wait upon the Lord.

Reforming Undesirable Behavior

You know that thing you do that you don't wanna do but you keep doing it because you can't stop doing it? These behaviors might include: lying, cheating, raging, gossiping, pornography, drinking, drugs, eating, throwing up, etc. Reforming these behaviors on your own can prove to be a little tricky. I'd say reforming undesirable behavior might even be impossible on your own. But there is still hope for us. With the love of God, the power of the Holy Spirit and a renewed mind, you can reform your behavior. Youth conference with lots of God encounters! An encounter with God is the easiest way to reform undesirable behavior because the encounter will fill you with the fear of the Lord. The fear of the Lord renews our minds in a way that informs our bodies of what's beneficial to our spiritual health in the eyes of God. So, your mouth doesn't want to lie anymore; your tongue won't allow you to eat certain things; your eyes will be opened to the evil of pornogra

The Meaning

My name is Jessica and my husband's name is Jarrod. We believe in God. We also believe in the spiritual gifts. Jarrod is an associate pastor at a small church in our hometown. It is a non-denominational church; by this we mean we are Bible based, spirit filled people who just LOVE enjoying God. We each have very good and close knit families but we also view the church members as our family. We love them like sisters and brothers and really enjoy spending time with them. Everyone has their own passions; some of us share passions. My passions include my husband and dog, teaching math (even though I "retired" last year from the teaching field, I tutor students and use every chance I get to explain math to people), and a good, strong cup of coffee. :) My favorite spiritual gift to learn and practice and be practiced on is prophecy. Prophecies are when God's children ask their Father for a word and hear it through feelings, verses, maybe an audible voice, a thought appe
