Nemesis

You know that person that you can't stand to be around? That person that gets under your skin and upsets you so quickly? Yeah, most of us have had or do have one of those. It seems like everywhere you go, just when you think you've avoided that person that he/she shows up in a different form. Ugh! Doesn't it drive you crazy?! After a couple different encounters you have to wonder WHY you can't get away from this type of person. Well, have you ever thought about the fact that it may be you? That maybe there's something inside you that needs to be healed so that you can love this person...hmmm that's not where you thought this was going, huh?

I get along really well with just about everyone. I'm accepting of many things and put up with a lot before it upsets me but I had nemesis at every single job I'd been in. I started to question why God kept putting these people in my path. After my third or fourth nemesis I asked God to help me examine myself. He revealed something to me that I had to get rid of. If I didn't, I'd be fighting this demon (so to speak) forever. And let's face it, that's not any fun at all.

I don't mean you need to self analyze, figure out what is wrong with you, and TRY to fix it. I mean you should ask God to reveal it your mind and ask Him to walk alongside you as you deal with this person daily. Ask Him to help you see your nemesis as He does, or to give you calm and peace as you converse. Your nemesis starts to seem less annoying and ever-present, you start to have more patience, love and compassion for him/her, you forget what made you cringe at his/her very presence. God's love for His children starts to permeate through you and you'll never be the same.

Wouldn't this be crazy?! Can you imagine a world where everyone loves each other? Where everyone works together and shares the same Heavenly Father? Who knows what would happen if we all let God take over our hearts and let His love shine through us??? I think it would be pretty awesome.

Reforming Undesirable Behavior

You know that thing you do that you don't wanna do but you keep doing it because you can't stop doing it? These behaviors might include: lying, cheating, raging, gossiping, pornography, drinking, drugs, eating, throwing up, etc. Reforming these behaviors on your own can prove to be a little tricky. I'd say reforming undesirable behavior might even be impossible on your own. But there is still hope for us. With the love of God, the power of the Holy Spirit and a renewed mind, you can reform your behavior. Youth conference with lots of God encounters! An encounter with God is the easiest way to reform undesirable behavior because the encounter will fill you with the fear of the Lord. The fear of the Lord renews our minds in a way that informs our bodies of what's beneficial to our spiritual health in the eyes of God. So, your mouth doesn't want to lie anymore; your tongue won't allow you to eat certain things; your eyes will be opened to the evil of pornogra...

Don't Pick Up Hitch Hikers...

My husband's passion for hearing God and sharing his words is inspiring. The knowledge God gives him to articulate to his people is astounding. It amazes me that my husband holds these spiritual words within him and nearly bursts with excitement on Sunday trying to get it all out to a physical world. Which brings up Joshua 23. This chapter is Joshua's final charge to the leaders and future generations. What is a charge? It's kind of like issuing a challenge and a warning all at the same time. At weddings, the minister charges the couple with the responsibility associated with marriage...in Joshua, he is charging the leaders to beware of the physical world around them. They've driven out the big tribes from the Promised Land but a few stragglers still remain and Joshua warns the leaders to avoid any entanglements with them. Temptation is sure to be present among these stragglers and they would be wise to remember all God has done for them. He said: 6 “Be very strong;...

Tips for Teachers for a Better Work Environment

Sun kissed and fully rested, teachers walk into the school building for in-service and the start of school full of zen and good vibes. Now let me ask how long you think all those good vibes are going to last? Come on...we all know that teachers are notorious for drama. gossip and COMPLAINING. BUT with Jesus fresh on the mind, you can steer clear of that this year. This year, let’s approach each situation with prayer first and action later. Here are my tips for a more pleasant work environment... Avoid Drama: STEP AWAY from the he said, she said game and mind your own business. If someone wants to talk to you about an offense towards someone else or takes competitiveness a little too far, emotionally back away. Change the subject or even say, “I’d rather not talk about that.” Old habits die hard so when you’re alerted to drama ask God to help you back away.  Proverbs 21:23 “Watch your tongue and keep your mouth shut, and you will stay out of trouble.” Stop Gossiping: ...
