Inner Peace | How to Find Peace

My kitty disappeared
and I asked God to
give me peace that she
was ok...she showed
up on my front porch.
I bet if I asked you how you find peace that we would all have different answers. Some might say exercise, yoga, meditation, prayer, house chores (I wish I found peace this way!), being outdoors, etc. I would agree with you that there are some things in life that just calm us down or give us peace for a moment, but I'd also add that there is only one thing that brings lasting peace. This one thing brings peace that doesn't have to be reactivated by more miles, yoga poses, minutes meditating, or cleaning cabinets. This type of peace can be tapped into at any moment without having to get up and do anything. So maybe you like doing your activities...this peace can still be found while doing other stuff.

At this point, you probably know what I'm talking about. I'm talking about God, relating to Him through Jesus and receiving peace through the Holy Spirit (they make a good team). Peace is an automatic by-product of spending time in His presence. When you establish a relationship with Him, you start to understand the plan He has for you and trust Him enough to blindly follow Him. Your faith is made stronger and your anxiety is made weaker.
Peace comes from knowing God and knowing that He is good. In Numbers, it explains that, "God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?"
Since He is not human, we don't have to worry about Him breaking our trust (like a human might). We can have peace that comes from a long standing agreement to His people that He will protect and guide us. Our confidence comes from His promise to never harm us and trusting that to be truth. He said,
" For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11)
Our trust in Him and our faith that He is good is what brings us peace. Our peace is an inner knowing that God is with us and nothing can stand against us. (Romans 8:31).

God has given me so much peace in potentially very chaotic situations. He brings me through so many of the messes I've made myself and the messes made by others that I know He always will. As His child, I have that privilege. As His child, you have that privilege, too. Please start to explore the peace that He offers. When you enter a sticky situation, instead of jumping right to chaos, jump into a request for His peace and patience. Rest as He washes over you in His goodness and rejoice as He solves your issues. You'll like it, I promise. :)

Reforming Undesirable Behavior

You know that thing you do that you don't wanna do but you keep doing it because you can't stop doing it? These behaviors might include: lying, cheating, raging, gossiping, pornography, drinking, drugs, eating, throwing up, etc. Reforming these behaviors on your own can prove to be a little tricky. I'd say reforming undesirable behavior might even be impossible on your own. But there is still hope for us. With the love of God, the power of the Holy Spirit and a renewed mind, you can reform your behavior. Youth conference with lots of God encounters! An encounter with God is the easiest way to reform undesirable behavior because the encounter will fill you with the fear of the Lord. The fear of the Lord renews our minds in a way that informs our bodies of what's beneficial to our spiritual health in the eyes of God. So, your mouth doesn't want to lie anymore; your tongue won't allow you to eat certain things; your eyes will be opened to the evil of pornogra

Don't Pick Up Hitch Hikers...

My husband's passion for hearing God and sharing his words is inspiring. The knowledge God gives him to articulate to his people is astounding. It amazes me that my husband holds these spiritual words within him and nearly bursts with excitement on Sunday trying to get it all out to a physical world. Which brings up Joshua 23. This chapter is Joshua's final charge to the leaders and future generations. What is a charge? It's kind of like issuing a challenge and a warning all at the same time. At weddings, the minister charges the couple with the responsibility associated with marriage...in Joshua, he is charging the leaders to beware of the physical world around them. They've driven out the big tribes from the Promised Land but a few stragglers still remain and Joshua warns the leaders to avoid any entanglements with them. Temptation is sure to be present among these stragglers and they would be wise to remember all God has done for them. He said: 6 “Be very strong;
