๐ฐEaster usually brings thoughts of ๐ฐbunnies, ๐ฃeggs and tons of ๐ญcandy. There’s nothing like watching ๐ถ๐ปkids’ excitement as they find little ๐ตtreasures out in the yard and explain with ๐delight what they found. For me, part of the joy of Easter is watching their faces ๐กlight up. But mostly, I enjoy Easter because I love to celebrate my freedom through Jesus.
Jesus took on a huge ⛓burden so that we could be set ✝️free. Luke 12:50 says, “I have a terrible baptism of suffering ahead of me, and I am under a heavy burden until it is accomplished.” Sin had left a stain that no amount of sacrifices could ๐ฆclean. To wash the stain away, Jesus took on our sin and it ☠️died with him on the cross. When he rose from the dead, we were made ๐new through him.
“Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame.” The pain he experienced was worth what God was doing through him. He knew joy awaited the next chapter of his journey.
What was the ๐joy awaiting him? Other than sitting on the ๐throne beside his father (because that’s awesome!), the real ๐joy awaiting him was the ๐ฅrelationship he inherited with YOU! The joy he has is the time he gets with each of us. He’s happy because through his crucifixion, we were saved.
The ๐pride and ๐joy parents feel for their ๐ถ๐ปchildren is nothing compared to how God feels about ๐us. Through Jesus we were made ๐ฆclean and ๐ชwhole so that we could live ๐eternally with Him. God loves each of us so much that HE SENT HIS SON TO SAVE US! To save us! From the evil that had been done. From the choices that were made. He saved us because we are that valuable to Him.
